1. EXTRA SPECIAL GROUP RIDE, SUNDAY 16th SEPTEMBER, LEAVING BOURNE END SERVICES, A41 @ 8.30am.

HBAM have been invited to visit Thames Valley Advanced Motorcyclist (TVAM).

Why? Really just to see how the countries largest Group does things.

At their monthly meeting TVAM average about 400, yes 400!! attendees.

On an average Sunday TVAM will:

send out 80 Observers with 120 Associates,

have rideouts for about 100 members,

sign up 25 new Associates,

give out 20 IAM pass Certificates, plus numerous Observer Qualification,

not to mention run a couple of classroom session for something (maybe SO training & a Committee meeting)

PLUS - A HBAM FAVOURITE they have A SLOW RIDING ‘COMPETITION’

 -  the whole morning s more like a Bike Show than an IAM Group.

Present at the TVAM, in addition to loads of tea & biscuits, there will be:

a mobile bike mechanic,

tyre replacement,

ultra seal

and my personal favourite Mark Hammond from H M Racing (http://www.mhracing.com/) who will (I promise) totally transform your bike for the better with the Dart Art of Suspension Set-up for the small price of £15.

Come along…. I absolutely guarantee that you will be lost for words at the scale of it all.

PLUS, the ride there & back will be on some of the best roads in our area.

See you there

Peter

PS. Remember 8.15 for 8.30 departure, full tank, empty bladder, Bourne End Services A41.

2. HOG Sunday 16th September
Via Dean Butterfield.

I am riding with the Harley Owners Group (HOG) on a charity ride for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We hope there will be 500 Harley's and their riders escorted by the Metropolitan Police into London from Walthamstow to a place very near the hospital where staff and the children of the hospital will have a photo opportunity with the bikes. Last year the Chapter organising the ride raised £50,000 and we hope to raise more this year.

If anyone wants to sponsor me then they can do this at the next club night or e-mail me dean.butterfield@tiscali.co.uk with details. Even if its a quid! I can match give this through work doubling my sponsorship. I have about £100 so far so that's £200 for the charity already anything would be appreciated.

3. A CHARITY RIDE, Sunday 30th September

via Tony Clarke
Ride in aid of Headway on Sunday 30th September. The Cambrdigeshire Boundary Ride is similar to last year - a distance of about 170 miles if you follow the guideline route. We raised over £3000 last year and want to do better this year.

Controls will be open form 9am to 4pm and those who have not registered in advance can start at McDonalds, Sawston, Webbs Yamaha at Eye or the Motel at Soham bypass between 9am and 10.30am. There are also three unmanned controls. The entry fee is £10 in advance and £15 on the day, plus £5 for a pillion. Provided riders are taxpayers, we will be able to recover tax under gift aid. £10 will become £12.80 and £15 will be worth more than £19.

9. HAVE YOU IMPROVED? - TAKE A RETEST.

A major challenge is to re-take your IAM Test, called The Driving Assessment, you can not fail or have your Green Badge taken away, but the Assessment, that only costs £25, is better than a re-test, because it's exactly the same as your original test but with corrective feedback during the ride, from the Examiner, are you willing to see if you've improved - OR NOT!

Take a look at & download the application form from here: http://www.hbam.org.uk/newsletters/newsletters/IAM_driving_assessment.pdf

2006/7: 5 'IAM Assessments' (retests) for HBAM for the IAM Year (April 2006 to March 2007).
